Equity Pricing

Equity Pricing spots are limited and I make intentional choices about how to direct them. I do not receive any outside funding to supplement Equity Pricing from my income, so I must take into account what I am able to offer in a way that is sustainable. Given the significant demand for Black therapists and the structural barriers that shape access to mental health care, I prioritize this availability for Black, Indigenous, and other People of the Global Majority who experience significant financial hardship and intersecting barriers to access.

Equity pricing is based on trust. I don't require proof of your financial situation. I trust you to assess your own financial resources, privilege, and access to wealth using the guideline below, and I ask that you let me know if your circumstances change so we can adjust accordingly.

Because these spots are limited and depend on my current caseload, availability shifts over time. I do not keep a waitlist for these spots, but I will update my website when spots are available. If you're unsure whether Equity Pricing is applicable to you, reach out and we can figure it out together.

Equity pricing is available for individual therapy only. Relationship therapy is at full fee.

Guidelines

(Rates $20–90 per session)

This pricing is for people experiencing significant financial hardship. Two questions that can help you locate yourself when considering equity pricing: Would paying my full fee mean going without your basic needs? And do you have access to resources, savings, family, credit, insurance coverage, or earning power**, that could cover it without significant hardship?

Consider equity pricing if you:

  • Frequently struggle to meet basic needs (food, housing, health care, transportation)

  • Have little or no expendable income**, savings, or financial safety net to fall back on

  • Receive public assistance (income assistance, PPMB, PWD)

  • Are unable to work full-time due to disability, chronic illness, or caregiving

  • Are unemployed or between jobs without savings, insurance, or family support to draw on

  • Are a recent immigrant or refugee navigating financial instability

  • Carry additional burdens such as medical or immigration-related costs, or supporting dependents

  • Cannot afford a vacation or have the ability to take time off without financial burden

**Expendable Income means you are able to go out for meals, go to the movies or a concert, buy new clothes, books, and similar items each month, etc)

**Earning power means you have the education, resources, connections, or privilege through your social positioning to be earning a comfortable income. Even if you are not currently exercising this power, I ask you to recognize this as a choice.

If you don’t meet the criteria, but the cost of therapy is still a squeeze, you can check out my list of free or low-cost therapy options on my FAQ page.

If you're able to pay full fee, thank you. Paying full fee is part of what makes it possible for me to offer reduced-cost spots to people facing significant financial and structural barriers to care.
